Alicia Langlais, also known as Alicia the Dance Dragon Slayer, is a Bay Area Dancer, Instructor, and Dance Inspiration Coach. Hailing from Bronx, NY, Hip-Hop and Caribbean culture were part of her household and community, which informed her passion for movement and dance, even after she became smitten with ballet. Alicia is the creator of Diaspora Dance, a Caribbean vibes meets Afro Pop dance party class, an all-levels movement experience that celebrates Black joy through the lense of contemporary afro-diasporic dances. Additionally, she has performed with El Grupo Nago Experimental Afro Cuban Dance Company, danced backup for international Afrobeats artist Olamide, and has collaborated with numerous schools, companies, and organizations as a specialty workshop facilitator and commercial artist including Xfinity, Coursera, Zendesk, Afro Punk Festival, Common Sense Media, San Francisco Ballet, Squaretrade, and the United Negro College Fund to name a few. In addition to over 15 years of dance training and experience, Alicia also has a Master's Degree in Transpersonal Psychology with a focus in Creative Expression. Her studies and research focused in Dance Therapy allows Alicia to meld her dance training and personal experience with her mental wellness backgrounds as a Dance Inspiration Coach. In this role, she helps clients eliminate, or "slay", dance related insecurities or trauma, which she calls "Dance Dragons", and obtain greater confidence, clarity, and success. An Oakland wife and mom of two boys, Alicia the Dance Dragon Slayer's passion and mission in life is to motivate dancers and movers of all levels and backgrounds to confidently own their unique dopeness and fearlessly DANCE, INSPIRE, AND SLAY!
